Triaxial Cell

total stresses when measured in a triaxial cell are more complex in their nature. Numurous parameters may be measured including back pressure, pore water pressure and volume change. From these values various engineering properties can be calculated. Triaxial Cell Is used to apply total stress. The Sample is subjected to an all-round confining pressure. Load is then applied through piston of triaxial cell on a pressure pad on the top of the specimen. In a triaxial cell, sample is confined in a rubber membrance. 'RKEC' make Triaxial cells are manufactured from carefully selected material. The Cell are manufactured to accommodate different size of specimen. Universal Triaxial Cell accommodates sample of diameter 38mm to 100mm.

Pore Pressure Apparatus

Constant Pressure System

in a triaxial test if pore pressure is not required to be measured the test can be completed in short times. However where pore pressure measurement are required,the duration of the triaxial test is more as much as 96 hours. In certain cases it may be necessary to keep the cell pressure/constant for the lateral pressure in a triaxial test chamber and automatically maintain this pressure constant at the value set, over as long as period of time as desired.

Dead Weight Type Oil Water Constant Pressure System

device is used to maintain cell pressure constant for a long duration and the system can be used in place of conversional constant pressure system using mercury pots where certain minimum height are required. Problems like deairiation of pump. Leakage of mercury etc. is eliminated also. This can maintain pressure in the cell up to 20 kg/cm sq.

Pressure is maintained constant in the system by a balancing calibrated weight on a spindle against a column of oil , operating under constant feedback.

California Bearing Ratio Test

The C.B.R. Method is used for finding the relatives bearing ratio and expansion characteristics of soil of base, sub-base and Sub-grade for the design of roads, pavements and runways.

Test can be made on all types of soils including sand, gravel, crusehed stone etc.(Passing through 20mm IS Sieve).C.B.R. Test is used extensively for selection of material and control of sub-grades.

The procedure of test is very simple. A 50mm dia penetration piston is forced in the test soil and loads required for the penetration to penetrate different depths are recorded by means of a proving ring fixed to the penetration piston assembly and a dial gauge. Both Laboratory C.B.R. and field C.B.R. Apparatus are available.
